Getting Connected to a Math Tutor
Ok, so you've decided which math tutor fits your needs. So how do you get connected to them? It's easy! Just click on create an account, and you will be directed to our sign up page. Since your first session is free, the only information we need from you is your email address, your first name, your parent's first name, and a phone number to walk you through a quick tech set-up. After that, you will be directed to your account page, and you will need to click on the "Schedule Session" button. On the Scheduler page, you will need to select a subject area, course area, topic, instructions for your tutor, upload your homework if necessary, and select a date and time to meet your tutor online. Then all you need to do is confirm your session date, time and tutoring subject, and you will be ready to get online with one of our great homework tutors!
What to Expect Once You're Connected to a Math Tutor
Tutorzilla will send you an email reminder for your tutoring session, and also provide you with a link to the Webex session you will be using with your tutor. Webex is the tool we use to provide the whiteboard technology, so that you and your math tutor can work through problems together online, as if you were sitting across from each other with a piece of paper. The first time you sign on with your Tutorzilla tutor, they will teach you how to use the simple Webex tools to write on the whiteboard and chat. They can also walk you through any technological issues, should they come up. The easiest way to communicate with your math tutor is through a headset with a microphone, so it's like you are on the phone and can hear what they tell you while watching them demonstrate it on the virtual whiteboard.
Ending Your Online Tutoring Session
When you are close to finishing the session with your math tutor, they will ask if you have any questions, and they will also have questions for you to answer. This is done to reinforce what you have learned, and to make sure you understand the material completely. Your tutor will tell you how to book another session if you'd like to schedule another one, and they will also ask you to fill out a very quick survey about your experience with their online tutoring. Our tutors are graded on their performance, your satisfaction with their teaching, and their popularity with other students. If you really liked working with your online math tutor, you can request to work with them again in your next session.
So what are you waiting for? Using online tutoring is a snap with Tutorzilla, and your math grades can only go up!
