Scheduling a Session with Your Algebra 1 Tutor

The first thing to do when your want to schedule a session with a Tutorzilla tutor is create an account with us.  Your privacy is important to us, and we require only a small amount of personal information for sign up: your email address, your first name, your parent's first name, and a phone number to walk you through a quick tech set-up.  That's all the information we need, and you now should have your own Tutorzilla account page, which you should be on after you submit your information. Now, you just need to click on the "Schedule Session" link.  To schedule your Algebra 1 Tutoring session, select the subject area, the course area, the topic you want to focus on, instructions for your tutor, upload your homework if necessary, and select a date and time to meet your tutor online.  The only thing left is to confirm that you have picked the right date, time and subject to be tutored in.

Getting Connected to Your Algebra 1 Tutor

"So I have my tutoring session scheduled, but  how do I meet my tutor online?", is what you may be thinking now. The first thing you need to do is check your email inbox.  You will have an email reminder from Tutorzilla for your tutoring session and a link to your Webex session you will be using with your Algebra 1 tutor.  What is Webex?  Well, Webex is the online whiteboard technology we use, so that you and your tutor can work through problems together, like you were sitting across from them at a table with a piece of paper!  If you don't know how to use Webex right off, don't worry!  The first time you sign on with your Algebra 1 tutor, they will teach you how to use the Webex tools for using the whiteboard and how to chat.  And, if you have any technological questions, your tutor can help you fix them so you can get on with your tutorial.  Tutorzilla recommends a headset with a microphone to get the most out of your session, which you can purchase at any electronics store or by visiting our tutoring resources page.

Ending Your Online Tutoring Session

It's almost time for you session to end, so what is the protocol?  Near the end of your session, your tutor will check to see if you have any questions about the material, and you will also review what you went over during the tutorial.  Your tutor wants to make sure you completely understand the new material, and we want to reinforce your algebra confidence.  Your tutor will also tell you how to book another session if you need to, and you will see a short survey pop up after you close out the Webex window, which we would like you to fill out and tell us about your experience with your online Algebra 1 Tutor.  Our tutors are graded on their performance as an online teacher, your satisfaction with the session, and their popularity with other online students.  If you had a good session and would like to work with your Algebra 1 Tutor again, you can request to work with that tutor again when you schedule your next session.
