Senioritis & Staying Sharp

When I was a senior in high school, I developed a bad case of "senioritis".  The definition of senioritis as listed on Wikepedia.com is: "a colloquial term used in the United States and Canada to describe the decreased motivation toward studies displayed by students who are nearing the end of their high school careers."  I had it bad, and my classes weren't helping.

I had taken advanced placement classes starting in middle school, so by the time I was a senior, I had taken virtually every class in the curriculum.  All that was left for me was 5 classes (2 were gym and gourmet cooking) and 3 study halls.  I basically had 1 study hall for every class, which allowed me plenty of time to get work done at school, and that left little that needed to be done at home.  Also I was done with all the Math classes my school had to offer, which lead to my dull and rusty math skills.

I coasted through the year on a mental vacation.  In the fall, I found myself in my first semester of college taking a statistics course.  I quickly realized I was behind the pace of the other students.  Taking one year off truly had a negative impact, and I had to work hard to catch up.
